Trends in worship music change fast-
It doesn't feel like long ago we were all jamming out to some folk style, boots-and-claps inspired worship, and then, before you could even fasten your suspenders that'd been replaced by aggressive, synth-heavy dance tunes.
We've gone through a revival of analog synth textures, and then started to move closer to the 90s and its FM and digital synth sounds. Now these days it seems every worship song features a full choir and likely a good dose of B3 organ.
I wanted to dig into one of these trends that seemed to come, go, and then sort of stick around in a way that I find really interesting. For me, it all started back in 2015-2016. This trend truly came on fast and I wanted to explore that a bit and use it to discuss how worship music both follows and creates its own trends.
