Sometimes inspiration comes from unexpected places. Recently, as we were working on a new Sound Library that unexpected place happened to be a lap steel guitar. Of course you've heard lap/pedal steel across country music, and here and there it has popped up in some worship tunes...
But what happens when you take that expressive, distinct sound, sample it and reimagine it for worship keys players? That’s where Sacred Steel was born- a brand-new Ultimate Exclusive Library for Sunday Keys.
Expressive swells, gritty textures, haunting plucks, and ambient tones that shimmer and breathe. Recently my church dusted off 'How He Loves" and I was able to support my EG player playing those iconic slide leads by matching with some hazy, lap-steel pads from Sacred Steel and it was SO GOOD!
There's a couple crazy distorted lap steel tones in here too- I pulled one of those into the mix for the final bridge and goodness.. it was just right. I'm sharing my real world experience, just to say that these Ultimate Exclusives are always designed to be both unique AND practical for real worship teams to use.
You can hear what I mean in the video below:
We purchased Sunday Sounds and the recommended Pre-Sonus USB audio interface using midi connections, but we struggle to get enough volume to the board to push into the house. Is this possibly a setting I haven’t been able to troubleshoot, or indicative of the output potential of the interface? We’ve tried it in multiple live settings with the same result. We can get volume but we’re maxing out the gain and it still doesn’t sit atop the mix.
