When you volunteer to play keys you’re probably expected to play piano, some pads, an intro or two. But those things are only one small piece of the real responsibility. The role of the keys player in modern worship goes way beyond just playing your parts.

Here's some of the 'other things' that keys players are expected to do, things that don't get covered during practice:

  • playing under your pastor for a prayer or altar call
  • handling every transition between songs
  • filling space during instrumental moments
  • having the perfect Patch ready, with the right Sounds and textures for all of the above

If you’ve ever felt unprepared or unsure how to handle those moments, you’re not alone. But you don’t have to wing it. We just posted a new video that will help. You'll learn some super practical tips from experienced keys players, how they approach the role of a keys player each week, and ways to stay grounded in moments that could easily become stressful or distracting.
