Pads are one of the best ways to make your worship team sound fuller, smoother, and like everything is "glued together." But, pads are also one of the most misunderstood tools for keys players.

Check out the video below, you'll learn what worship pads are, and the easiest ways to begin using them at your church.

What Are Worship Pads?

A worship pad is a sustained, ambient keyboard sound that sits underneath the rest of the band.

Unlike a piano note, which naturally fades away after it's played, a pad is designed to:

  • Fade in smoothly
  • Sustain while you hold the notes
  • Fade out naturally when released

Instead of drawing attention to itself, a pad fills the empty spaces between instruments.

That's why many worship musicians describe pads as the "glue" that holds a band together.

Fantastic video! Thank you so VERY much for sharing this. I would absolutely love to achieve this sort of sound! Quick question, can this be used with an old technics piano? Or would I need to upgrade to a Roland?
